Ideas That Move The Future

Hydrogen Powered Water Cars

A lot of People don't realize how close we are to running our cars off of water. As of now it is possible to supplement your vehicles fuel supply with a hint of hydrogen. I'm talking about a Hydrogen Fuel Cell, How it works it it uses the electricity coming from your vehicle and a uses that, Potassium Hydroxide, and a bunch of stainless steel plates lined up extremely close to each other and splits water molecules into separated Hydrogen and Oxygen Molecules which can then be diverted to your cars air intake, increasing your cars power therefore causing a drop in your gasoline fuel consumption.

So what's stopping us from running our cars completely off of water ? Well this is the problem that scientists are working on solving and the oil company are working on suppressing. Say we have a hydrogen vehicle (which already exists today) their are a few problems we would face one being that hydrogen at room temperature is in a gas state unlike gasoline which at room temperature is in a liquid state. Why is this a problem ? Well gas molecules are far more spread out than liquid molecules which requires a lot more space to hold your fuel and having a big tank of highly volatile and explosive gas behind you while you drive is a safety hazard that cannot be ignored. That is not our only issue, if you did have your hydrogen vehicle and you wanted it to run off of water you would need a fuel cell that can create hydrogen while your driving but like I mentioned before you need electricity to make the hydrogen and in this case you would be burning your hydrogen to make more hydrogen and you wouldn't have much energy left to move your car. This is the biggest issue we face today but there are people working on making this technology efficient enough to make this a reality.

So How is this Idea going to move the Future? Well with the energy crisis on our hands, running our vehicles off of our most abundant resource would most certainly pull a lot of constraints off of us allowing how budgets to budget in for more useful things than the harmful and wasteful practice of paying for and burning irreplaceable fossil fuels. Hopefully building a future that our offspring wont have to worry about global warming and how to afford gas to get to work.

Mars Rovers

January 3, 2004 NASA's Martian Rover Spirit landed on the crater Gusev to begin its 3 Month Mission. Gathering information about Mars and searching for signs of water. Gusev turned out not to be a lake bed but a lava field but thanks to engineers the Spirit Rover managed to live a much longer life than its initial 3 Month Mission and traveled to Columbia Hills a nearby location that did have ancient rock that appeared to be weathered by water. It wasn't until March 22, 2010 did the Spirit Rover finally stopped sending transmission due to mechanical failure from a harsh Martian winter where Spirit was unable to position itself for proper sunlight to manage the winter.

Spirit wasn't the only rover that landed on Mars there was also Rover Opportunity which is still in operation today headed to the crater Endeavour to do further research into the deep crater hoping to find more evidence of water.

So How is this Idea going to move the Future? NASA is always doing research and is regularly funding contests for robotics that can go over varied terrain and collect samples, in the harsh condition's of planet mars. Understanding Mars so that we can one day go there when our planet is over populated is a inevitable future are offspring will have to face and preparing now is vital to the transition from here to mars. Maybe one day traveling to Mars will be no different than going on a vacation to Hawaii.

Bionic Hand

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be part robot ? The thought of living a bionic existence has wondered threw many minds and it is on its way to becoming a reality. Losing a limb in an accident is sad to say the least but an Italian man Pierpaolo Petruzziello lost half of his arm in a car crash and the other half is reaching for the future. He has become the first person in the world to control a biomechanical hand using his mind. Threw a month of research work Pierpaolo Petruzziello was able to make complex hand movements with his thoughts while hooked up to electrodes in his arm stump. By the end of the Study he was able to move the hand in ways which he commanded with his brain 95% of the time.

So How is this Idea going to move the Future ? This is a critical step forward in the direction of the bionic man. Having a passageway to communicate with electronics threw our nervous system will open the door to so many forms of technological advancement. Imagine controlling your computer in the future with your mind leaving your hands free to multi task. Imagine knowing that you could loose a limb to be equipped with a more efficient and stronger limb. The time of the Bionic Man isn't far off and there are many advancements to look forward too.
